WinaCare Disability Services is a NDIS registered provider, that is managed by a leadership Team who possesses decades of experience between them, in the areas of Nursing, Management and Education in the Disability, Aged Care sectors who are dedicated to Making a Positive Difference to the Community, through individualised support and person-centred practice. WinaCare Disability Services is based in Adelaide providing 24/7 support across Adelaide and Brisbane to people with intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive and psychosocial disabilities.

At WinaCare Disability Services, we have a proven track record in Nursing, Community and Hospital based as well as Community based care, which assist in bringing peace of mind to loved ones and delivering the highest level of care to our participants.

Activities of Daily Living

 

Personal Care

Domestic Assistance

Our Support Workers can provide you with help around the house with housework and maintenance to ensure you can live well and safely within your own home.

 

Washing & Ironing 

Our support staff can assist you with laundry including ironing needs and requirements. 

 

Meal Assistance 

Our highly trained support staff can assist you with the preparation and storage of your own meal(s) to a wide range of varieties and selections personalised to your preference. 

 

Medication Assistance 

Our support staff who are trained in the administration, supervision and record keeping for the taking of medication, are able to assist you by reminding and/or prompting to take the medication at the correct times plus keeping the appropriate records. 

Paying Bills

Our support staff and administration staff are able to assist you with the payment of your bills and preparing the structure of a budget, although we are not permitted by the NDIS to provide financial advice to those people we support.

Domestic Assistance

Domestic Assistance Services Available 

 

Essential cleaning is offered across all areas that are regularly used by our client within their own home. 

These include: 

 

  1. Bathrooms. 
  2. Toilets. 
  3. Kitchens. 
  4. Laundries. 
  5. Living areas and bedrooms. 

 

Our friendly Support staff will happily undertake tasks such as cleaning stoves tops, wiping down bench tops and inside fridges as well as vacuuming or mopping floors, dusting, dishwashing, changing bed linen, washing, drying and doing essential ironing. 

 

Other services include; 

 

  1. Dog Walking. 
  2. Help to prepare shopping lists and pay bills.
  3. Organising storage areas such as pantries or wardrobes. 

 

Domestic Assistance services provided by the team at WINA Community Care offers assistance with domestic chores, including assistance with cleaning, dishwashing, clothes washing, fresh linen and ironing, in order to maintain a safe, secure and healthy environment for our participants. 

 

We work with you to design a service suited to your specific needs, carrying out tasks the way you like them done. Regular assistance with household duties will ensure your home is well-maintained. This will allow you more time to focus on activities you enjoy, whilst feeling comfortable in your clean home.

Mental Health Support Services

Supporting someone with a Mental Illness condition 

The team at WinaCare provides support for people who are living with mental illness. This involves day-today support to help their individual goals, assisting them to navigate other health services and monitoring their progress. 

 

Types of Mental Illness 

Mental illnesses are of different types and degrees of severity. Some of the major types are depression, anxiety, bipolar mood disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, suicide, and self-harm. 

 

Changes in Behaviour 

  1. Finding it difficult to concentrate on tasks. 
  2. Feeling tired and fatigued. 
  3. Being unusually tearful or emotional. 
  4. Getting angry easily or frustrated with tasks or people. 
  5. Feeling vulnerable due to stress and Anxiety. 
  6. Drinking alcohol to cope with other symptoms of anxiety and/ depression. 
  7. Having a loss of confidence and negative thought patterns. 

 

Most mental illnesses can be effectively treated. Recognising the early signs and symptoms of mental illness and accessing effective treatment early is important. The earlier treatment starts, the better the outcome.

How do we help? 

 

  1. There is no ‘one size fits all’ way to support participants with a mental illness. We provide support based on your need and medical condition. 
  2. Our support staff will follow the Care Plans and assist you accordingly. 
  3. Our support staff will record patients’ physical condition by taking vital signs and observing behaviour. 
  4. With the help of other medical staff, we organise social or recreational activities and encourage patient participation. 
  5. We can also help you in light cleaning, cooking as well as assisting with bathing, showering, grooming and other personal hygiene tasks. 
  6. We can help you by reminding and/or prompting to take the medication at the correct times. 
  7. We can help in building skills like exercise, shopping, household activities, personal hygiene, hobbies, and sports. 
  8. We can help you in meeting your families, friends and attending appointments.

Supported Independent Living

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is what the NDIS refers to as the supports a person needs for their tasks around the home. It’s for the things we do every day, including personal care, such as showering and dressing. Before the NDIS, this may have previously been known as shared supported accommodation.

 

Our team of professional and supportive staff will collaborate with individuals and their families or guardians to identify what they need in a home, and support clients to access and maintain stable accommodation and community connection, ensuring choice and control for your overall health and wellbeing.

Support Workers are on hand to support you with cooking and maintaining your home, accessing the community, and helping with personal grooming and hygiene whilst being respectful and caring. Our experienced team provide 24/7 person-centred care, so we are there when you need us, anytime. 

Whether in your own home or one managed by our organisation, we support you to live as independently as possible. By getting to know you and understanding your interests, likes and dislikes as well as goals for the future, we can map out the best possible programs to support you at home.

 

Our flexible, highly skilled staff support you to reach your full potential and enjoy a fulfilling home life.

 

We assist you to:

 

  1. Develop individual program plans that outline goals, aspirations and desires for independent living.
  2. Develop and maintain friendships and community connections.
  3. Access social and recreational activities.
  4. Manage and attend appointments.
  5. Complete forms and other forms of communication.
  6. Maintain a household.
  7. Manage accommodation and tenancy obligations.

 

We will also work with you to develop increased independence through skill development in areas such as:

 

  1. Financial and money management.
  2. Shopping and household tasks, including cooking and domestic duties.
  3. Social skills.
  4. Using public transport.

Social Supports 

Social Supports provided by WinaCare are the physical and emotional comfort provided to participants, a participants support staff and support network. 

 

Social Supports provide the participant the knowledge that they are part of a community of people who love and care for them, value them and think well of them. 

 

There are several types of “Social Support” which include; 

 

  1. Emotional Support (expressions of empathy, love, trust and caring). 
  2. Instrumental (tangible aid and service). 
  3. Informational (advice, suggestions, and information). 
  4. Appraisal (information that is useful for self-evaluation).

 

With one of our experienced, highly trained and friendly Support staff by your side, we can help you to participate in social and community activities including: 

 

  1. Going to the Park or the local Coffee Shop. 
  2. Going on outings to the movies. 
  3. Going shopping. 
  4. Attending appointments. 
  5. Going to the Gym. 
  6. Meeting with families and friends. 
  7. Joining and taking part in religious or community events. 
  8. Going out on a variety activities; 
    1. Swimming 
    2. Art Classes
    3. Horse Riding
    4. Artificial Wall Climbing
    5. Boat Rides

 

Building Skills 

Our trained support staff can help in building skills like exercise, life skills e.g.; shopping, household activities, personal hygiene, hobbies, and sports. This can be done on a one-on-one basis or through our innovative programs. 

 

Socialisation

Our trained support staff can assist with community integration and socialisation helping you to meet your family members and friends in community-based settings that are safe and assist you in expanding your social networks.

Travel and Transport

We can help you to travel independently on public and private transport to stay connected with your loved ones by supporting you to travel independently on public and private transport in your community.

 

Having the independence to get active in your community is important to have freedom to do the things you enjoy. We can support you to travel on the bus, train, Tram or in your car is a wonderful way to visit friends and family, travel to your job, do shopping and access health and education services.

 

Our professional and friendly support staff can help you get to and from different locations, using their car, your car or public transport. The types of transport that are covered under the NDIS include; 

 

  1. Going to and from Appointments. 
  2. Going to and from Therapy Support. 
  3. Day to Day Activities (e.g., Shopping or Community Participation). 
  4. Transport to and from Education activities. 
  5. Transport and from Work activities. 

 

If you choose to be transported using your own vehicle, then you need to verify or consider the following; 

 

  1. Your vehicle is safe, clean and roadworthy. 
  2. Registered vehicle. 
  3. Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance. 
  4. Comprehensive Vehicle Insurance. 
  5. A visual inspection of your vehicle once per year. 
  6. Service and maintain the vehicle as per the owner’s manual. 
  7. A first aid kit in your vehicle. 
  8. The support worker has the correct driving licence. 
  9. The support worker can operate your vehicle. 

 

It’s important to understand your vehicle is not covered by our company’s insurance. So, it is important to make sure you have the appropriate insurance cover.
